Frome Collegians

Today the u15 blacks travelled to play Frome Collegians on one of the best pitches around. The game started well within the first minute we took the lead through Callum. His shot was to got to handle and ended up in the net 1-0 Highbury. We continued the good start tackling well in midfield our new 3 at the back system was working well although they didn’t have much to do. We played some good football which ended up with Ethan out wide on the left who’s cross (woops I mean shot)😉 ended up lobbing their keeper and went in at the far post 2-0 Highbury. A few minutes later Ethan found himself in a similar position this time his shot could only find the cross bar. Frome came into the game a little more and on a rare attack managed to pull a goal back 2-1 to Highbury. With our wide men working up and back they began to feel the pace so we switched to 4 at the back to see it out until half time 2-1.

After half time we came out and invited Frome onto us. We just couldn’t get our game going again. Frome then made it 2-2 . A few more players being moved around and Brian found himself clean through 1 on 1 but his shot hit the post. Frome then played some nice football and created a chance from the edge of the box which Dean saved well but could only parry it to the feet of a Frome player. He smashed it in from close range 3-2 Frome. Reece found himself clean through their keeper rushed out missed the ball but made contact with Reece. Reece tried to keep his feet to his credit but couldn’t penalty we thought oh play on said the ref (unbelievable Jeff). With us attacking Frome broke away to make it 4-2. We then lost our cool stopped playing which cost us a 5th goal.
Keep believing it is coming Mark and myself are really proud we ask you all to play in positions you don’t like but you get on with it. Although this wasn’t our best performance this season the score wasn’t a true reflection of the game. We go again next week. Who’s for fitness on Tuesday at training.
