In 2013 it was agreed that Warminster Highbury Youth and Western league Warminster Town would link together to create a pathway for youth players into adult football.

This would give them the chance to play adult football if they wanted to choses this pathway. This also gives the players 3 seasons at Warminster Town to get acclimatised before they were classed as adults.

This pathway saw the Highbury U15 team move to become Warminster Town U16s in the following year.

Home games are played at the Warminster Town ground in order to give the boys the same experience as the 1st team on match days. The pathway is for the u16s team to move into an U17/U18 team in the following years and then the right quality players to be picked for Warminster Town Reserves and 1st team.

At U16 the team plays in the Mid Wilts League and then there is the option at U16/U17 to play in the highly competitive midweek Wiltshire Floodlit League as well as West Wilts League.

The initial plan was to develop as many players as possible from last years U16s so they could play for the 1st team or the reserves.

We are happy to report that our target of 3 players was beaten in the 1st year when two players made it into the 1st team and 3 players are now playing in the reserves

All matches are free to watch and the club facilities were open for spectators before, during and after the match. Both teams were given food after the game to create a more social experience for the teams.

This process now enables young people to go from the Red and Blacks of the U5s to adult football in the same Red and Black and a clear pathway to assist that player.

At presents we have a mixture of 3 previous years of Highbury Youth players in the ‘A ‘ team.
